So, I finally bought some Bay Rum Aftershave. This is the stuff your grandfather used (if he used any), and by deduction I’m assuming that Kerouac used it, too. I was so pleased with the product a few days later I ordered some Lucky Tiger.

By the way, my grandfather didn’t actually use aftershave, but even if he had I think I’d still feel more comfortable citing Jack Kerouac. :P

Of all the TEDTalks I’ve seen, there may be none that capture the spirit of ‘change’ more than this. - Adam Grosser was inspired to build a refrigerator that works without electricity and to bring that vital tool to villages and clinics worldwide. Tweaking some old technology, he’s come up with a system that works. Coolest thing of all — it’s incredibly cheap!

By the way, TED recently put together a Top 10 list from their first two years of presentations. For me, it was a chance to catch up on several talks I missed.

It uses a technology that suspends some of the world’s most sophisticated trains. One maglev wind turbine can power 750 thousand homes, and the structure requires less than 100 acres to operate. The device was proposed by an Arizona-based company in 2007, and the technology is already at work in China. I ran across the story while scouting stops for my upcoming trip to Arizona.

I couldn’t find anywhere to stop–nothing to see, but it sure sounds like a good idea. For the city lucky enough to deploy it first, I imagine there will be a significant tourism benefit.

I just picked up this GPS device for my upcoming vacation in Arizona. Amazon easily had the lowest price, and the folks at GPS Reviews were very helpful in helping me determine that this was the right unit for me. In fact, without the help of Tim at GPS Reviews I’m almost sure I’d have made a mistake.

I nearly bought the lower priced but feature rich ONE 130; however, I need Itinerary Planning and want full integration with Google Maps. Tim’s good advice saved me from making a rather expensive GPS oops!
