Michael Ware’s Nose

First, this is not making fun. I think CNN’s Michael Ware may be the best reporter in Iraq, but I recently wondered what happened to his nose (enlarge). To no surprise, it turns out that it’s an old injury from playing rugby–a game that’s played a significant part in my personal history. Here’s a photo from around 1983.  At the time, I was playing for U.S.M.

After comparing the pull of a cigarette to taking a hit of teargas, Wired reports, “Thanks to nicotine, this plant may be mildly hallucinogenic. It can be chewed, brewed, smoked, or, as some South American shamans prefer, enjoyed as an enema.” - I had no idea of the later. (more)
